In this blog, we will discuss the common issues which the user face while registering on the e-waybill portal. Some of the common issues faced by users while registering on the e-waybill portal are :
Issue #: 1
Whenever a person is trying to register, the system is saying you have already registered, now would they proceed further?
Resolution –
The system is indicating that you have already registered under the e-Way bill portal and you have already created your username and password on the e-way bill website.
In case if you do not recollect, you need to click on the “Forgot Username” and “Forgot Password” to retrieve your old credentials on the e-waybill portal.

Issue # 2:
Whenever a person is trying to register, the system is saying that the address or mobile number you have entered is wrong. How to resolve this issue?
Resolution – The system is indicating that you might update your address and phone number at the GST Common portal. To perform this action, you have to click on ‘Update from Common Portal’ on the E-way bill portal to take the latest data from the GST Common portal.
Even after the above process, if you face the same issue, then you have to update it on the GST Common Portal through the amendment process.
Issue # 3:
Whenever a person is trying to register with GSTIN, the system is showing that the Invalid GSTIN you have entered or the details for this GSTIN is not available in GST Common Portal. What is the remedy for this?
Resolution: The system is indicating that the GSTIN entered by you is wrong or your GSTIN details are not available at the GST Common portal. There is a time lag between the data in the GST Common portal to be shared with the e-waybill portal; during this period, you may come across this issue.
You can check this for the correct GST Number or its availability on the common portal.

Issue # 4:
If the consignor or consignee does not have any GSTIN, then what has to be entered under the GSTIN column?
Resolution – Then the user has to enter “URP” i.e., Unregistered person in the corresponding GSTIN Column.
Issue # 5:
For persons who do not possess GSTIN, then the requirement of PAN is mandatory or not?
Resolution: As the person does not have GSTIN, then the PAN is mandatory to provide for E-way Bill registration on the e-waybill Portal.
Issue # 6:
If the person does not possess GSTIN and applying for E-way bill registration, then the furnishing of Business details is mandatory or not?
Resolution: The person who does not possess GSTIN then they have to provide Business details.
Business details include the principal place of business or the name of the proprietor or main person of the company/firm.
These are some of the common issues that taxpayers or transporters come across when they want to register on the e-waybill portal.
